NE-YO & Akon Are Bringing 2000s R&B Back for One Night

By CANA Craft Cannabis

If you came of age anywhere near a radio in the mid-2000s, this lineup is going to feel like a time machine. NE-YO wrote and sang some of the smoothest R&B of that era — "So Sick" still gets a reaction every single time it comes on — while building a parallel career penning hits for other artists behind the scenes, quietly shaping the sound of an entire decade of pop and R&B radio. Akon, meanwhile, turned auto-tuned melodies and global rhythms into massive crossover hits like "Smack That" and "Lonely," selling tens of millions of records and helping launch the careers of artists like Lady Gaga along the way through his own label. Both men are as much architects of 2000s pop as performers within it.

The two co-headline Xfinity Center on Tuesday, July 21, in a show built purely for singing along at the top of your lungs — expect a setlist stacked with the kind of hits that defined an entire generation's high school years.

Around 15,000 fans are expected, with sales already tracking past that at nearly 18,000. Parking opens at 5 PM, doors at 6:30 PM, and the show starts at 8 PM. No GA pit, but lawn access is open for the whole crowd.

Get the nostalgia flowing early with a pre-roll for the ride over, or grab a disposable vape for something portable once you're at the venue and ready to sing along.
