Hunger doesn't wait, and neither should we. At CANA Craft Cannabis, we're committed to supporting the organizations that meet our neighbors' most basic needs — and few do that work more effectively than PACE and their Community Food Center.
CANA is proud to donate to PACE (People Acting in Community Endeavors) as part of our $60,000 community giving program across Norton, Fairhaven, and New Bedford in 2025.
PACE — People Acting in Community Endeavors — operates one of the most vital food resources in the Greater New Bedford area. Their Community Food Center, located at 477 Park Street in New Bedford, provides nutritious staples and essential items at no cost to individuals and families struggling with food insecurity.
What sets the PACE Food Center apart is its approach. This isn't a traditional food pantry where you take what's handed to you. It's a food shopping experience — clients sign up, walk through the center, and choose the items that work for their families. It's a model built on dignity, choice, and respect.
The Food Center is open five days a week:
PACE serves residents of New Bedford, Dartmouth, Marion, Rochester, Mattapoisett, Fairhaven, and Acushnet. Last year alone, the Food Center served over 10,000 individuals — a number that speaks to both the scale of need in our region and the incredible capacity of PACE to meet it.
In addition to their regular food shopping program, PACE also offers emergency food assistance for those in crisis, ensuring that no one in the community has to go without a meal.
CANA's contribution helps PACE keep their shelves stocked and their doors open. Running a food center that serves over 10,000 people requires a constant flow of resources — fresh produce, proteins, dairy, canned goods, and household essentials. Every dollar donated translates directly into food on the table for a family in need.
This funding also supports the infrastructure behind the operation: the staff who coordinate distributions, the volunteers who sort and stock donations, and the systems that make it possible to serve so many with dignity and efficiency.
"Food insecurity is one of those challenges that's easy to overlook until it touches your own life. PACE doesn't just feed people — they do it in a way that preserves dignity and gives families real choices. Over 10,000 people served last year, right here in our backyard. That's the kind of impact that deserves all the support we can give."

When we act in community endeavors — just like PACE's name promises — we build a stronger SouthCoast for everyone. At CANA, that's a mission we'll always get behind.
