The men and women who served our country deserve more than gratitude — they deserve action. At CANA Craft Cannabis, we're committed to backing that belief with real support. That's why we're proud to contribute to Fairhaven Veteran's Services and the critical work they do for veterans and their families right here in our community.
CANA has donated to Fairhaven Veteran's Services as part of our $60,000 community giving program across Norton, Fairhaven, and New Bedford in 2025.
Fairhaven's Veterans' Services Office, led by Veterans' Service Officer Mike Jenney, exists for one purpose: to ensure that no Fairhaven veteran or their family goes without the support they've earned.
Operating out of 229 Huttleston Avenue, the office provides a comprehensive range of services rooted in Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 115, which guarantees financial and medical assistance to eligible veterans. But the work goes far beyond paperwork and benefits processing. The Veterans' Services Office serves as an advocate, a connector, and often a lifeline for veterans navigating complex systems.
Services include financial assistance for veterans and dependents in need, medical benefits coordination through state and federal programs, housing assistance and referrals for veterans facing housing instability, employment and educational opportunities to support career transitions, fuel assistance programs, connections to food banks and shelters for immediate needs, burial allowances and memorial services, and grave identification and flag placement for all veteran graves in Fairhaven.
Massachusetts has a long and proud history of supporting its veterans — dating back to 1861, when the Commonwealth first committed to caring for Civil War veterans, their spouses, and dependents. Today, the state supports over 600,000 veterans and 1.2 million dependents, and local Veterans' Service Officers like Mike Jenney are the front line of that commitment.
CANA's contribution helps Fairhaven Veteran's Services continue providing direct assistance to veterans and their families. This includes everything from emergency financial support to helping a veteran navigate VA benefits or find stable housing. The goal is always the same: permanent, life-long solutions that empower veterans to thrive, not just survive.
For many veterans, the VSO is the first call they make when they need help — and it's often the call that changes everything.
"Veterans gave something that can never be repaid — their time, their safety, and sometimes their health in service to all of us. The least we can do is make sure they have a strong support system when they come home. Mike Jenney and the Fairhaven Veteran's Services team are that support system, and we're proud to help them do their job."

Honoring those who served is one of the most important things a community can do. At CANA, we'll always show up for Fairhaven's veterans.
