Community isn't built by one generation — it's built by all of them. At CANA Craft Cannabis, we recognize that the seniors of Fairhaven are the people who shaped the town we're proud to be part of. Supporting the Fairhaven Senior Center is one way we say thank you.
CANA is proud to donate to the Fairhaven Senior Center as part of our $60,000 community giving program across Norton, Fairhaven, and New Bedford in 2025.
The Fairhaven Senior Center, operated by the Council on Aging, is located at 229 Huttleston Avenue and serves as a vital resource for residents aged 60 and older. The center's mission is clear: advocate for improved quality of life for all seniors through supportive services, programs, and education.
What makes the Senior Center special is its open-door approach. There are no membership fees. Every senior in Fairhaven and the surrounding area is welcome to walk in, explore the programs, and connect with staff and fellow community members. The center offers a wide range of activities, including social and recreational programs that combat isolation, nutrition programs that ensure access to healthy meals, social services that connect seniors with needed resources, educational programs promoting lifelong learning, and health and wellness activities supporting active aging.
The center is supported by a combination of federal funding through the Older Americans Act, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Elder Affairs, the Town of Fairhaven, Coastline Elderly Services, and private donations — including contributions from local businesses like CANA.
A dedicated staff led by Director Jocelyn Bowers works alongside generous volunteers to keep the center running and responsive to the evolving needs of Fairhaven's senior population. Their guiding belief says it all: "There is no place like home."
CANA's contribution helps the Fairhaven Senior Center maintain and expand its programming. This means more activities to keep seniors socially connected, more wellness programs to support healthy aging, and more services to help older residents navigate everything from benefits enrollment to transportation.
For many seniors, the center is a lifeline — a place where they find friendship, purpose, and the practical support they need to live independently in the community they love.
"The seniors of Fairhaven built this community. They're the reason this town is the kind of place where a business like CANA can thrive. Supporting the Senior Center is about honoring the people who came before us and making sure they have everything they need to enjoy the community they helped create."

When we invest in our seniors, we invest in the soul of our community. At CANA, that's exactly the kind of impact we want to make.
