CANA Norton

242 Mansfield Avenue, Norton, MA 02766. Open nine in the morning until eleven at night, seven days.

Norton sits just off Route 123 with straightforward access from Route 24 and Interstate 95, which makes it the natural stop for anyone coming from the north or from across the Rhode Island line. It also has the longest trading day of the three, so it is the one still open when the others have shut.

Towns it serves:

Browse the Norton menu in full, or go straight to flower, pre rolls, vaporizers, edibles or concentrates.

CANA Fairhaven

240 Bridge Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719. Open nine until nine, seven days.

Fairhaven sits on the eastern side of the New Bedford harbour, on the road out towards Wareham and the Cape. If you are heading down Route 6 or coming off Route 25, this is the one on your way rather than a detour.

Towns it serves:

The Fairhaven menu carries the full range, including flower, pre rolls, edibles, vaporizers and concentrates.

CANA New Bedford

2121 Phillips Road, New Bedford, MA 02745. Open eight in the morning until ten at night, seven days.

This is the earliest opening of the three, which matters if you are working around a shift. Phillips Road runs off Faunce Corner Road, so access from Interstate 195 is quick in either direction.

Towns it serves:

The New Bedford menu shows everything currently in stock, with direct links to flower, concentrates, edibles, pre rolls and vaporizers.

Why three shops rather than one

The towns across southeastern Massachusetts are spread out and the roads between them are not fast. A single site would leave most of the region a thirty or forty minute drive away, which for a routine purchase is far enough that people do not bother.

Three sites means most of the area sits within roughly fifteen minutes of one of them. Dartmouth is about ten minutes from New Bedford. Wareham is fifteen from Fairhaven. Brockton is fifteen from Norton.

It also means stock can be weighted to what each area actually buys, which is why the three menus are not identical.

Choosing between them

If two are roughly the same distance, three things usually decide it.

Hours. Norton is open latest, New Bedford opens earliest. If your window is early morning or late evening, that settles it.

Route rather than distance. Fifteen minutes on a clear road beats ten minutes through traffic, and Interstate 195 and Route 24 behave very differently at five in the afternoon.

Stock. Inventory is not identical across the three. If there is something specific you want, check the menu for that location before you drive.

If it is your first time

The process is the same at all three and it is quicker than most people expect.

You show identification at the door before you enter the retail floor. Inside, products are behind the counter rather than on open shelves, so you tell someone what you are after and they bring it out. Nobody expects you to know what you want, and describing what you are looking for in plain terms works better than trying to use the right vocabulary.

Everything is sold sealed. You will leave with a bag that is opaque and difficult for children to open, which is a legal requirement rather than a preference. Keep it sealed while you are driving and it goes in the boot rather than the passenger seat.

Ordering ahead

Every location takes online orders for collection the same day. It is not required and walking in is fine, but two things make it worth doing.

It reserves the item. Popular stock moves quickly and there is no hold on anything until it is paid for or reserved.

It also shortens the visit considerably. Order collection is usually a separate, faster queue, and everything is picked and bagged before you arrive. You still show identification, so bring it either way.

One account across all three

If you use more than one of the shops, the CANA VIP program carries across all three locations rather than being tied to whichever one you signed up at. Members earn points with every purchase and get access to discounts and exclusive VIP member offers once they join.

‍

You can join at the counter on any visit.

What to bring, wherever you go

  • Valid government issued photo identification showing you are twenty one or over. Any state's identification is accepted, and there is no residency requirement.
  • Cash or a debit card. Credit cards cannot be processed. There is an ATM on site.
  • Your medical programme card as well, if you are a registered patient and want the tax exemption applied.

All three shops are open seven days. You can browse everything currently in stock across the locations from the main site, and order ahead at any of them to collect the same day.
